Project Neon updates and early St. Nicholas’ Day

It’s been a while since my last post, which is mostly because not much has happenend in neon lately as it’s running mostly by itself and life is keeping me busy. I originally intended to write a post when I’m done with the python bindings, but it turnes out that configuring SIP and dbus right takes more time than I could spare for neon lately. So here goes:

  • Builds for Kubuntu Raring are up, so enjoy your daily dose of KDE on the dev release!
  • Precise builds will be kept running until 4.10 RC1, after that please upgrade to Quantal if you wish to use neon.
  • Following that, the VM images are now based on Quantal.
  • Sadly not much progress on the python bindings. All of us are rather short on time lately thanks to kubuntu and real life.

If you have questions or just want to tell us how you are using Project Neon feel free to leave us a note on IRC in #project-neon@irc.freenode.net – we would be very happy to hear from you!

On the second topic:
Nothing beats getting home from a tiring day at work and finding presents waiting for you at home!
Thanks Jonathan for the Kubuntu shirt 😀

Project Neon 2012 Summer update

Hi! With almost a year delay as life was pretty good at distracting me, here’s a short heads up on what we’ve been doing.
Those that don’t know yet what Project Neon is should read Michal’s introductory post.

  • Oneiric builds have been suspended and the packages will be removed in a week. If you want to continue to use Project Neon please upgrade to Precise Pangolin
  • As of today Project Neon is fully running for Quantal Quetzal, enjoy your daily dose of builds on the devel release
  • We now have pre-built KVM Images for Project Neon so you don’t need to separately install Kubuntu first before using it!
  • As people keep asking for it, we’re working on the Python bindings (pykde4). As this requires more work than I initially hoped it will take a while until we’re done. You’ll hear from me again once you can use them.

Project Neon 2011-09 Summary

Summer was gone faster than I realised (me going on vacation probably having something to do with it :P) and so with some delay we have the September summary of the KDE trunk daily builds for Kubuntu a.k.a Project Neon.
Those that don’t know yet what Project Neon is should read Michal’s introductory post.

Updates for Users:

  • With kdeaccessibility and kdeutils gone, packages for jovie, kaccessible, kmouth, kmousetool, kmag, ark, filelight, kcalc, kcharselect, kdiskfree (kdf), kfloppy, kgpg, kremotecontrol, ktimer, kwallet, superkaramba and sweeper were added.
  • The networkmanagement plasmoid now has builds from the nm09 branch for oneiric. Thanks to Jelmer Vernooij for pushing the necessary bzr-git support to launchpad.
  • strigi was updated to 0.7.6
  • kdelibs doesn’t build libkactivites anymore, it’s now provided by the project-neon-kactivities package

Team stuff:

  • The import for the 4.7 branch of kdelibs is broken, so kdelibs needs regular manually packaged snapshot uploads for a while.
